Ben Lonergan is an award-winning photojournalist at The Register-Guard in Eugene, Oregon.
Lonergan previously worked as a multimedia journalist and regional photo editor at the East Oregonian in Pendleton, Ore. He has won more than half a dozen Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association awards for his work including a 2020 first place finish for Best News Photo.
Lonergan’s images have been circulated nationally via USA Today, the Associated Press and have been picked up by regional and national news organizations including The Oregonian, CNN and The Wall Street Journal.
Prior to his time at the East Oregonian, Lonergan served as a full-time intern photojournalist covering features, breaking news and sports for The Register-Guard during summer 2018 as a part of the Charles Snowden Program for Excellence in Journalism. The Charles Snowden Program for Excellence in Journalism is an Oregon based internship centered around ethics in journalism through close examination of real world and hypothetical case studies.
Lonergan graduated college in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in journalism from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication with a primary educational focus in photographic and multimedia journalism.
